About Erling Løken Andersen

Erling Løken Andersen is a Norwegian-born entrepreneur, lawyer and former Art Director. He is the founder of Omni Matrix, the financial technology and infrastructure group established in 2019. He is one of the group’s ultimate beneficial owners and serves at board and ownership level, with responsibility for strategic oversight, governance, execution review and long-term direction.

Mr. Andersen is not part of the daily operational management of Omni Matrix. The company’s day to day activities is managed by the executive leadership team located in Malta. Mr. Andersen’s role is to represent the company’s interests, supervise the group’s strategic direction, review management execution against agreed priorities and support the board in matters involving governance, risk, capital allocation and long-term positioning.

Omni Matrix operates in financial technology, digital assets, compliance technology and financial operations. The group includes, or is associated with, businesses and products such as MatrixPay, OmniCore, Finsupport and Kyros Anti-Money Laundering Data Suite. Combined, the group has more than 70 employees across its offices in Malta, Singapore and Estonia.

Mr. Andersen’s contributes to the development of the group’s overall market position, supports management in significant partnership and product decisions, and provides board level oversight in areas where regulatory structure, commercial execution and operational reliability are important.

Education and Background

Erling Løken Andersen was educated in Norway. He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Oslo in 2015 and has also completed postgraduate legal studies at the University of Oslo. Before entering the legal profession, he studied art direction at Westerdals School of Communication in Oslo, and later worked an Art Director. His education combines law, communication, design and commercial strategy.

Mr. Andersen began his business career in the Scandinavian internet sector. In 2005, he co-founded Biip.no together with two friends. Biip.no was one of Norway’s early social networking platforms and became a major youth oriented online community, amassing more than 500.000 members. The company was sold to TV 2 and Egmont in 2008 in a transaction reported at more than NOK 75 million, corresponding to more than USD 10 million at the time.

After the Biip.no transaction, Mr. Andersen worked with digital media, marketing and technology. He founded Omega Media, a digital marketing and technology company. This was later renamed to Journey Agency, continuing to focus on brand strategy, performance marketing, search engine optimization, content marketing and online growth. His work in this period included projects for retail and FMCG companies like Coca-Cola, Sony Playstation, Ebay, H&M and Puma.

Mr. Andersen also co-founded Spillexpo Comic-Con, Norway’s largest gaming and pop culture event. Spillexpo was first arranged in 2012 and quickly became a meeting place for the Norwegian gaming, entertainment, esports and technology sectors. Regular exhibitors include Sony Playstation, Nintendo and Activision Blizzard. Mr. Andersen exited Spillexpo through a management buy-out (MBO) to Norgesexpo AS for an undisclosed sum in 2023.

Following his legal education, Mr. Andersen worked in the legal profession, including as a lawyer and senior attorney in Oslo, Norway, working on cases related to class-action law suits, regulatory matters, M&A and IT law.

Mr. Andersen has completed professional training and certifications relevant to governance, financial crime prevention, investment funds and cyber security. These include Certificate in Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association, AML certification for Luxembourg Investment Funds and IT Security Principles from the Norwegian National Security Authority.

Erling Løken Andersen has lived and worked in Norway, Silicon Valley and Singapore. The international outlook compliments Omni Matrix’s business model, which involves cross border financial technology, regulated counterparties, compliance requirements and institutional partners.
